LANSING – State Representative Dudley Spade (D - Tipton) today announced that the Michigan Economic Growth Authority (MEGA) Board approved a Standard Employment Tax Credit for Lenawee Stamping Corporation in Tecumseh valued at $873,012 over seven years. The metal stamping and welded fabrication company plans to in vest $6.6 million to expand operations in the company, choosing Tecumseh over competing sites in Tennessee and Canada.
"I would like to commend Lenawee Stamping and the MEDC Board for taking the necessary steps to keep and grow jobs here in Lenawee County," Spade said. "We are starting to see small signs that our economy may be improving and it is efforts like these and the commitment of MEDC and local communities that will continue to move us in the direction of recovery."
The project under consideration would transfer existing Ford Business currently located in Canada to Lenawee Stamping and will require a large investment in new machinery and equipment. Lenawee Stamping also considered existing Van-Rob plants in Tennessee for the project. The project is expected to create 277 new jobs throughout the state including up to 81 at Lenawee Stamping with an average weekly wage of $544. Lenawee Stamping will also offer health care benefits and pay a portion of those costs. Total state government revenues would be increased $6.7 million due to the creation of these jobs.
