LANSING, Mich. - State Representative Dudley Spade (D-Tipton) today announced that the City of Morenci has been awarded a $181,424 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). The money will be used to rehabilitate several rental units in the downtown area.
"It is easy, living in community as strong as Lenawee County, to fall into the trap of believing that homelessness is a problem affecting other people in other places," said Rep. Spade. "I commend the City of Morenci for addressing this issue and taking steps to end homelessness within its borders. With this grant, the community will help provide decent housing for struggling families who might otherwise be forced to live in dangerous and unfit conditions."
