LANSING, Mich. - State Representative Dudley Spade (D-Tipton) today announced that Lenawee County will soon host an Agriculture and Rural Communities Roundtable at the Vo-Tech Center in Adrian. This Roundtable was created by the Legislature a few months ago to give members of Michigan's agricultural and rural communities an opportunity to discuss how the laws, rules and policies administered by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) affect them.
"This Roundtable is an excellent opportunity for members of the agricultural community and rural community residents in Lenawee County to have their voices heard by the people that implement the policies that affect them," Spade said. "I would encourage anyone who has a concern, comment or question about the way the Department of Environmental Quality impacts these groups to take advantage of this opportunity."
This forum seeks to bring farmers, food processors, agribusinesses, and cities, villages, and townships in rural communities together to address concerns they may have with state government and discuss how to address major issues that impact the agricultural and rural lifestyles. One of only a handful of such events happenings around the state, this Roundtable will feature a panel discussion with representatives from the agricultural sector and rural communities. State Representative Dudley Spade will be on hand along with officials from the DEQ and the Department of Agriculture, to answer questions and address concerns from the people in attendance. It is open to the public and will be held in Vo-Tech Conference Rooms 1-3, 1372 N Main St. in Adrian from 6:30-8:30pm on December 8.
